Bear Trap in Whiteout Survival is, above all, an in-game event meant to be fun – but don’t forget it’s also a race for damage. The more your alliance deals, the better the rewards for everyone. And the more you deal personally, the bigger your individual bonuses.
📌 Basic Rules of Bear Trap
- Raid creator (leader) – their 3 heroes provide all the buffs for the raid (up to 9 buffs total).
- Joining players (joiners) – the damage contribution comes only from the top expedition skill of the hero placed on the left.
- Only Expedition type skills count.
- The hero’s level doesn’t matter only the skill level does!
📊 Where exactly does the bear damage come from?
- 🧠 All Expedition skills of the raid leader’s three heroes
- 🛡️ Leader’s Chief gear (gear, pet, boosts)
- 💥 Four three highest level Expedition skills from joining players
→ The game randomly selects 4 from all available Expedition skills (if more players join).
→ If a passive skill is picked (e.g. +HP, production), it may lower total damage!
⚠️ That’s why:
- Join only with a hero whose top Expedition skill is offensive (e.g. Jessie, Jasser, Reina…)
- Don’t use heroes with passive or defensive skills (e.g. Giny, Patrick, Sergey)
- If you don’t have a good hero, it’s better to send just your troops without a hero
→ It’s better than sabotaging the raid with a weak buff
🦸♂️ Who to choose as heroes for the raid leader?

🎯 Raid Leader:
- Use your 3 best mythic/epic heroes with attack buffs in their Expedition skills (right side).
- Avoid heroes like Patrick, Sergey, Giny, etc. – their buffs are HP/defense-based and don’t work against the bear.
💪 Joiners:
- The first slot (first hero on the left) should only be: Jessie, Jeronimo, Jasser, Seo‑yoon, Gwen, Reina, etc. (those with +25% attack skills)
- Other slots in the march don’t affect damage against the bear – you can use any heroes there to increase troop count.
- If you’ve run out of Bear Trap-optimized heroes, send only troops without a hero instead of using one with an unsuitable buff, as that can reduce the raid’s overall effectiveness.
🏹 What troops to send? (ratio)
The bear ignores HP and defense, so:
- Infantry – almost useless (they don’t deal damage, only tank, which isn’t needed here).
- Lancers and Marksmen – deal about 90% of the total damage.
✅ Optimal ratios:
- Infantry – 10-20%
- Lancer – 20-30%
- Marksman – 50-70%
For example:
20% infantry, 30% lancers, 50% marksmen
or
10% infantry, 45% lancers, 45% marksmen

📅 When to activate the Bear Trap?
- Plan ahead: set the trap manually or schedule the event every 48h to activate it at a fixed time.
- Best hours are in the evening, when most players are online.
- Run a poll and agree on the most suitable trap times.
🚀 Pace:
- Ideally: launch one new rally every 50-60 seconds.
- Each player should have 5-6 marches ready.
- Organize rallies in waves: 5 players launch every minute, then the next group. This allows you to send one rally queue more than once every 5 minutes, as rallies overlap like gears – you can join one that’s about to hit the bear in 1 minute, not 5 🙂
💎 Extra boosts for the bear:
- Arrowheads (commonly called “arrows”) – feed them to the trap to increase attack.
- Pet buffs – choose those that boost +ATK or +Lethality, not defense.
- Chief Gear – make sure your Chief’s gear is upgraded.
- 2h Boosts (+10% troop ATK for credits) – activate them right before the event. (mostly for P2P players)
💬 Finally: the golden rule
It’s not just about who has the biggest army. It’s about who hits the hardest.
And for that, you need knowledge, coordination, and alliance discipline.
Follow these rules, and the bear will stop being a challenge – it’ll become just a loot bag 🎁
🧭 March Queue Setup
Every second counts during Bear Trap – that’s why it’s worth preparing your march presets (preset 1, 2, 3…) in advance, so you don’t waste time setting up your team during the event. This lets you fully focus on joining rallies and maximizing damage.
Set up at least 3 ready-made teams – with the right heroes in the first slot (offensive Expedition skills!) and the correct troop ratio. You’ll find examples of optimal setups in the images below. Just click “Deploy” and you’re good to go – no risk of accidentally sabotaging a rally with the wrong hero.
