Description
Zinman is a Generation 1 Legendary Marksman with the Growth subclass. His architect identity matters as much as his nail gun: Bastionist supports building upgrades, while his battle skills combine a stun, Attack Speed and conditional personal Defense. He is a hero to evaluate for both city development and combat, rather than treating every Legendary as a pure damage upgrade.
Lucky Wheel and Daily Deals are listed acquisition routes, with availability tied to the offers and progression in your state. Once recruited, he can also use Mythic General Hero Shards. Those general shards are an upgrade resource for an already summoned hero, not a substitute for recruiting Zinman first.
Bastionist: what the building bonus covers
Bastionist reduces consumption of Meat, Wood, Coal and Iron for construction and increases Building Upgrade speed. Both effects progress through 3% / 6% / 9% / 12% / 15%. The listed resource discount covers those four materials; do not assume it reduces your Fire Crystal requirement.
A Building Upgrade speed bonus should not be described as the same percentage cut to a construction timer. Check the resource cost and displayed timer for the actual upgrade you plan, and review the in-game skill requirements before counting on a particular saving. This is a development benefit, not a troop damage buff.
His combat strengths and limits
- Target disruption: Nail Scatter combines a stream of nail damage with a two-second stun. The skill card lists damage per nail rather than a total for the whole attack.
- Faster attacks: Robust increases Zinman’s Attack Speed. It should not be relabeled as an equal increase to his Attack stat.
- Defense under pressure: Quick Defense raises his own Defense below 50% Health. It is conditional, and it does not heal him back above that threshold.
- A mixed-purpose skill set: one of his Expedition-side skills is devoted to building development. Compare his combat contribution with your alternatives instead of expecting three troop-battle bonuses.
Where to use Zinman
| Purpose | What to evaluate |
|---|---|
| City development | Bastionist is the relevant skill. Compare basic-resource savings and upgrade speed with the cost of developing the hero; avoid assuming every construction resource receives the discount. |
| Arena and Exploration | Try his stun and Attack Speed when they solve a problem in your lineup. Check positioning and survival, since his large conditional Defense boost only applies after his Health falls below half. |
| Your own Expedition march or rally-leading squad | Implacable boosts all troops’ Defense and Health, while Positional Battler increases their Lethality. Bastionist should not be counted as an additional offensive troop skill. |
| Joining a rally | The first Expedition skill of the first-slot hero is eligible for rally support selection. Zinman offers Implacable in that role, so match him to a survivability-focused plan. |
Skill development priorities
Editorial recommendation: decide whether you are building Zinman chiefly for construction or for combat. For city development, Bastionist is the skill to examine first. For hero battles, Nail Scatter supplies control and damage, Robust supports his attack rate, and Quick Defense is relevant if low-health survival is a recurring issue.
For Expedition combat, develop the troop skills that match his intended role. Implacable supports Defense and Health; Positional Battler supports Lethality. None of those stats should be silently exchanged for damage dealt when comparing him with another hero.
Woodpecker: exclusive weapon
Woodpecker has two mode-specific effects. At skill level 5, Overclocked Nail Gun raises Zinman’s Attack by 24% in hero battles. At skill level 5, Defend to Attack raises Defender Troops’ Attack by 15%. The defender restriction matters; do not treat that second effect as a universal attack-rally bonus.
Reference stats and shards
The displayed stats are reference values. Recruitment requires 10 shards, followed by 1,065 across the five promotion stages, giving 1,075 from locked to five stars. Each row in the shard table is an additional stage cost.
