Description

Smith is a Rare Infantry hero with the Growth subclass and a clear iron-focused economy role. Burnished Iron improves the City Iron Mine’s output, while Craftsmanship increases Iron Gathering Speed on the map. Those two skills are the main reason to evaluate him beyond his simple hammer-and-armor combat kit.

His listed shard routes are Exploration, Lighthouse Intel and Hero Recruitment. He belongs to the starting Rare roster, which this catalog keeps in its G1 starting-roster group rather than treating it as a later numbered Legendary release.

City iron and map iron are separate benefits

Burnished Iron raises City Iron Mine Output by 5% / 10% / 15% / 20% / 25%. It applies to the city’s iron-production output; it should not be described as a bonus to every resource building.

Craftsmanship increases Iron Gathering Speed on the map by 5% / 10% / 15% / 20% / 25%. It is a gathering-rate benefit, not a promise of a larger resource deposit, more troop carrying capacity or the same percentage reduction to a gathering timer.

Choose the skill that matches the iron source you are trying to improve. The two headline percentages concern different processes, so adding them together and calling the result one combined iron bonus would be misleading.

His hero-battle kit

  • Hammer Burn: a forward hammer swing dealing Attack-scaled damage in an arc. Its listed coefficient rises from 200% to 280%.
  • Armor Enhancement: reduces Smith’s own damage taken by 10% to 30%. This is damage reduction rather than an equal increase to his Defense stat.

Where Smith fits

PurposePractical guidance
City iron productionBurnished Iron is the relevant skill. Evaluate it against how important city production is to your current resource needs.
Map iron gatheringCraftsmanship is the relevant skill. Check the gathering display for the iron activity you are using rather than treating it as an all-resource bonus.
Early hero battlesHis two personal skills provide direct damage and self-protection. Compare him with your available alternatives once you need more team utility or a different combat role.
Combat ralliesHis Expedition skills are economic effects. Do not choose him as combat support solely because the Infantry badge resembles that of a dedicated combat hero.

Skill development priorities

Editorial recommendation: prioritize Smith’s iron skills according to the activity you actually use. Burnished Iron addresses city output, while Craftsmanship addresses map gathering. His value as an economy hero should be judged separately from whether he occupies a slot in your strongest fighting team.

Develop Hammer Burn or Armor Enhancement only when you are using Smith in hero battles and the upgrade answers a real need. For a more defense-focused combat comparison, see Sergey; the shared Infantry class does not make their support kits equivalent.
